This afternoon, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received a phone call from his Egyptian counterpart, Mr. Badr Abdel Aty, who offered his condolences on behalf of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt following the tragic accident involving a bus in Wadi El Harrach.
The call provided an opportunity for the two ministers to continue their consultations and coordination on issues of common interest, foremost among which is the Palestinian issue. In this context, the two sides discussed recent developments related to the Israeli occupation's revival of its expansionist plans, stressing that the future of peace in the Middle East remains contingent on ending the war of extermination imposed on the Palestinian people and putting an end to Israeli expansionist illusions, as well as accelerating the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.
On the other hand, the two ministers discussed the latest developments in the sisterly country of Libya and affirmed their commitment to supporting a final settlement of the Libyan crisis, in a manner that preserves the sovereignty of this country, maintains the unity of its people and the integrity of its territory, and enhances peace, security and stability in the region. In the same context, the two sides discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the tripartite mechanism of neighbouring countries on the crisis in Libya, which is scheduled to be held in Algeria in the coming period.
