State Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of African Affairs, Ms. Salma Bakhta Mansouri, participated via videoconference in the 1287th Ministerial Meeting of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC), dedicated to the developments in the situation in Somalia and the operations of the African Union Support Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The meeting was characterized by the participation of foreign ministers from a number of Council member states, the Chairperson of the AU Commission, the AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, the Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs, the representative of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the United Nations Organization (UN) and the European Union (EU).
During her intervention, the Head of State reiterated Algeria's firm commitment to support peace and stability efforts in Somalia and its keenness to continue accompanying this brotherly country in its efforts to fight terrorism and achieve stability, in coordination with regional and international partners, thus contributing to the establishment of sustainable peace and security in Somalia and the entire Horn of Africa region.
