This evening, the Minister of State, Minister for Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr Ahmed Attaf, received a telephone call from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy, Mr Antonio Tajani.

The conversation addressed developments in the Middle East and the Arabian Gulf region, with both sides reiterating their welcome of the agreement reached by the parties concerned on a cessation of military operations, emphasising the need to build upon this to achieve lasting security and sustainable stability in the region.

The two sides also expressed their deep concern regarding the Israeli attacks to which our brotherly country, Lebanon, continues to be subjected, stressing the importance of mobilising the efforts of the international community to put an end to them, thereby preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability and safeguarding the entire region from the risks of a return to military escalation.
