Sofiane Chaib, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the Algerian Community Abroad, hosted an interactive videoconference today, Sunday, May 3, 2026, with members of the Algerian community residing in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, in the presence of the Algerian Ambassador to Moscow. This meeting coincides with a series of mobile consular outreach sessions organized by the Algerian Embassy in Moscow for members of the diaspora in several Russian cities, particularly those with a significant presence of Algerian citizens.

In his remarks on this occasion, the Secretary of State emphasized that organizing such periodic meetings reflects the Algerian state’s commitment to strengthening channels of ongoing communication with its diaspora abroad, listening to their concerns, and responding to their aspirations, wherever they may be. He also highlighted that these efforts are part of a comprehensive vision aimed at bringing the administration closer to citizens and improving the quality of consular services, in accordance with the directives of the country’s highest authorities, which pay special attention to the national community abroad.

He also reaffirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ commitment to continuing efforts to modernize consular services and streamline administrative procedures, thereby reducing the burden of travel and ensuring optimal attention to the concerns of our citizens. In the same vein, the Secretary of State highlighted the important role played by Algerian professionals and students residing abroad, calling on them to strengthen their involvement in organizational and community frameworks, thereby contributing to the strengthening of their ties to their homeland and their participation in the national development process.
