This evening, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart, Mr. Abbas Araghchi.
During the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister reviewed the latest developments regarding efforts and initiatives aimed at resuming diplomatic negotiations, with the goal of putting a definitive end to military escalation in the Gulf region.
For his part, the Minister of State reaffirmed Algeria’s firm conviction that every possible effort must be made to find a diplomatic solution to this conflict, which has harmed the entire region. He also expressed his hope that the existing ceasefire would be consolidated and strengthened as a prelude to laying the foundations for a political process that would ensure the necessary conditions for achieving a lasting and sustainable peace throughout the region.
