#Press_Release:

This afternoon, the Minister of State, Minister for Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr Ahmed Attaf, received a telephone call from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of the sister Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr Ayman Safadi.

On this occasion, the two ministers discussed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, notably the systematic escalation being carried out by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, which was once again exemplified by the raid on the Qalandia Training Centre belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) yesterday, in flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

In this context, both sides emphasised the need to respect the legal and historical status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al-Quds Al-Sharif. They emphasised the need to mobilise the support of the international community to put an end to these repeated practices and violations, which undermine the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and harm efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace throughout the region.

The two ministers also discussed recent developments in the Arabian Gulf region and the Middle East, in particular efforts to de-escalate tensions and the importance of prioritising diplomatic and peaceful solutions, with a view to achieving security and stability in the region.
